present would not know these!

Hi there,

Really, during our childhood life was very carefree and it could be every where in India during the mid and later 1960s. I was seven or eight years; our class room was full around forty or fifty children very crowded?

The Muslim children carried out a dominant character as they belong to Leh’s business and contractor class. Other children appeared submissive against them. There were lots of bullying by them.

The rural children belong to ‘Tongpa’ (average farming family) families with humble back ground and they managed carefully their stays in Leh others met the bullying of the town bullies?

There were lots of eve teasing of our girls by these street bullies and some of the girls without family support became pro and several of them became more or less tom boyish and bold and frank?

I and my age group belong to minors and somehow managed to avoid the wrath of these bullies. Yes, then there was these intra community fights especially in the evening. And these were considered to be very ‘Macho’ kind and formally informed and fights taking place physically.

All feared the ‘Sheynam’ community studs as they were the toughest followed by ‘Yurtung’ community then ‘Tukcha’ the weak were the ‘Zangsti’and ‘Skara’. Somehow, we heared about these fights who beat whom and who were the toughests?

One, me and my friend we were playing near the present ‘Leh Café’ where there was the old congress office? Suddenly, I saw an army Jonga making speedy reverse and crushing a silvery shine pack that happened at the rear tyre of the motor I ran towards it and recovered a cigarette pack full of cash?

My friend no no Lagspa said not to shout lets go and share the money? But this Lhaba senior guy had seen us so he demanded a share which we gave him? Later, we brought toy pistol from Lala Bansi’s shop and would play gang gang with our peers in Leh Street.
