Really the mountains of the Himalayas serve as a natural refrigerator for the Indian sub-continent! It’s massive, isolated, pristine and raw. The mountains form a plateau in itself not less then 3000 mts. above m.s.l.
These run massive water into the numerous rivers that run across both the north western and eastern Indian hemisphere having states and union territories like Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttra Khand, Uttra Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal, Assam until Arunachal Pradesh.
These water eventually make their way to Arabian Sea in the west and Bay of Bengal in the south east where from once again the water cycle begins with massive evaporation and these moving north bringing in rain and snowfall.
Our rivers are civilization where unique cultures have developed over several millenniums. The mother of all languages is Sanskrit from which other languages were born besides in the 6th century B.C there was the Pali language which was the language of the common people. The other scripts being Prakrit and Devanagari.
The extreme cold of the northern glaciered mountains and heat of the southern lower plains make our region bestowed with unique bio-diversity, flora and fauna! But most of these got poachered during colonial era beginning in the 19th century a grave legacy of the past?
The Indian sub-continent being situated in the center of our planet earth where the sun’s ray fall perpendicular during a normal summer day. In the northern mountenous region the living organism hibernate for the winter countless organisms swoon as winter approach also the wind carry them and lucky ones find themselves flown into holes where after long winter haul they come to life once warmth comes about.
It’s said that river Indus is where the two tetonic plates had crushed into one another giving rise and birth of the Himalayan ranges. Earlier Asia was located futher lower down surrounded by ocean all over slowly it started moving upwards once the whole of planet earth was one single entity.
Therefore when one visits Ladakh one can see the very ancient Ladakh range mountains with that of recently formed western Himalayan ranges opposite each other in the Indus valley. That too we are the only part of India which is located as the extreme southern part of the Central Asia as Gobi desert and other central Asian lies towards north not very from us.
In school the teachers would mention that Himalayas were the natural barricade that deterred the northern enemies’ tresspassing into our country. Great many Rishis and monies began to inhabit the Himalayas practicing their yogic practice and achieving unfanthomable spiritual powers.
Hence the Himalaya is called as the cradle of yogic culture, mysticism, tantraic and vajrayanaic practices of most religious traditions be it the Hindus, Sikh, Jain or the Buddhist. Later the Judiac, Christain and the Muslims too have come as a process of modern force. Bye for now.
